I have VPS (Virtual private server) hosting running DirectAdmin.

Its great so far!

I had a domain running on it,
(not exact site) domain.com

with the nameservers
ns1.domain.com
and
ns2.domain.com

The nameserver is run on the VPS.

Ive added an "add on domain" other-domain.com. I'd like to setup the nameserver as
ns1.other-domain.com for the domain, Not as the old ns1.domain.com namserver.

In other-domain.com DNS management, I added 2 "A" Records
ns1.other-domain.com pointing to my-nameserver-ip
ns2.other-domain.com pointing to my-nameserver-ip

then set the Namserver to the above.

Was this the correct way to do it?

Thanks

That's part of it. If you won't tell us the real domain name of the added domain I can't tell you specific instructions, but you'll have to tell the registrar where you registered your addon domain and register the new nameservers with them.

And for the future, you might as well know that it's not easy to help with any DNS related questions unless full information is given. DNS is a public database, and unless you don't ever expect anyone to ever visit your site you certainly want the information public.

So it doesn't make sense to create public records and then hide them from the people you want to help you with them.
