Hello all,

Im trying to figure this out the last few days. I have installed a server on a server park ( or datacentre i dunno how its said in english ).

I installed Red Hat Linux 9 , with named and ssh installed. The rest is a very clean install really.

I have installed directadmin, it all went autmatically, everything works , except for apache. when i start httpd it says :

Starting httpd: Syntax error on line 81 of /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf:
Cannot load /usr/lib/apache/libphp4.so into server: /usr/lib/apache/libphp4.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
[FAILED]

So i thought , php was not installed right, so i tried to compile it myself from source. I tried various flags , but php did not compile libphp4.so , no libraries at ALL. There is no such file as libphp4.so anywhere on the machine.

But DA should install php for me, why is this? Did i forget to install a module before i installed DA?

Any reply would be helpfull

alright, i tried the customapache build method as sticky in this forum.

And now it does work. :) so problem solved , but it is still weird it didnt worked in the first time

There may have been some kind of error the first time, which you may have missed, since so much stuff goes by so fast.

i did install autoconf 2.59, 2.57 was installed , when installing custom apache , he asked for 2.59.

That can be the error , and since there is a lot of stuff going on in the screen ...

Hi there,

Please be smart, and really don't use Red Hat Linux 9 anymore. Because this OS is really out of date, and not updated anymore. Than again, at the site of Directadmin it's saying the following os support:

Redhat Linux 7.2, 7.3, 8.0, 9.0

I think that whole line needs to be deleted. Especially for some newer software. Like the newest spamassassin and apache + php5 etc...

Just a thought.
