Hello,

We would like to install DirectAdmin on an existing production server but we don't really know how to do this without lozing any data of the current configuration.

Till now we just manually added hosting stuff by editing config files, creating dirs, ... This is a small summary of what it looks like:

Apache: VirtualHost blocks in config file
PureFTPD: Users in MySQL table
Postfix & Dovecot: Users/Domains/Forwarders, ... in MySQL tables and a virtual mail dir

We have around 30 customers using this server.

Does anyone here has any experience on installing DirectAdmin on a system in use? What do we have to do first, and after that, ...?

It's really important the downtime is very minimal.

Thanks!

Guus

Don't do it.

Install DirectAdmin on a second clean server with just a base install and then manually move your clients.

I concur dont even attempt to install it on a current server. You will cause nothing but problems.
