Hi,

Yesterday my server provider had an issue with routing and my whole websites went down (apart slave DNS) and I was not able to receiving emails. Is it possible to create a mail relay on different server ? so if the main server will not responding emails will go to slave and after the main server will be up again all emails will be transfered to master ? I saw that some hosting providers company did this with directadmin, I can see for example 2-3 MX records on DNS server with different priority.

Thanks

And be sure to read the last two lines of that DirectAdmin faq link:
Just as a warning, any spam sent here that is either a non-existant account or flagged to be bounced will be sent back to the sender, even if that sender address is spoofed (faked). Just keep in mind of the possible spam/load increases if this option is used.
The specific reason I never includeed an implementation is that the backup mx server must accept all email to the domain, whether or not the specific address is undeliverable.

And if/when you bounce the spam later you can get blacklisted yourself.

I believe there's a recent thread on these forums which includes a way to copy user-lists to the backp mx server, but I don't remember the details.

Jeff
