Hello,
due to high traffic issue, I had to buy a new dedicated server on which I installed only the DB (mysql v5.0.45). On this new server I don't have Directadmin, just mysql. My question is: is there a way to let Directadmin (which I have on my main server) to "point" now to the new DB Server to do all the mysql operations (restart, backup, etc.) ? What I want to do now is to disable mysql on the main server and let the new DB server do all the DB operations via Directadmin. Thank you for any help!

tanfwc,

DDJ isn't referring to a slave. Actually there's not really any such thing as a MySQL slave. MySQL can be replicated, but that's not what DDJ is referring to, either.

DDJ is referring to MySQL running completely on a separate server.

I believe this has been discussed before, and I believe it's doable.

Thanks, pkilam. I looked in the knowledgebase and couldn't find it; I'm glad you found it for us.
