Hi a lot of users are wanting the ability to extract and compress files from the control panel.

I can see why this is a strong needed feature because a lot of the times they would compress files and upload them for faster transferring, instead of uploading files one by one.

Anyone know if this is possible or if there is some solution to this dillema?

You can already extract tarballs (.tar.gz) from within the filemanager. Make sure you're running the most recent version of DirectAdmin.

I actually use this all the time to upload files from a windows environment. The results are must better than loading each file individually.

I use 7-zip to create my tar.gz files.

I am using the latest version of DirectAdmin.

I do see the option to compress but, why do I not see the option to extract?

It will only extract files that are .tar.gz I believe.

If they aren't in the proper format, it will fail.
