I'm the co-owner of a server using DA. I log in on Admin level.
The server hosts about 10 websites, but 15 domains are directed to the server. Which means aliases are created for 5 domains, pointing to existing websites.
I think it's done using DNS (Domain Pointers specifically). I'm not the person who set it up, so I can't be sure.
I deleted one of the aliases from it's old location and added it to the new. "the new" being the last version of an online product, "old location" the previous version. All aliases (domains without a document tree) redirecting to the old location, must now be set to redirect to the new location. What I did (to try if it works) is delete one (like I said) and add it to the new.
I'm pretty sure I did that correctly (I checked with the existing aliases still redirectin to the old version). The HELP page says it can take up to 72 hours, but it's been about that and nobody I ask can see the new version website. Everybody can still see the old version website though.
Does this mean the DNS change didn't YET occur? Or not at all? Did I do something wrong in the DNS settings?
Here are the details:
"Source domain" = AA (owner domain = BB)
"Type" = Alias
When I click "Manage" (DNS):
Name - Type - Value
AA. - A - [server ip]
ftp - A - [server ip]
localhost - A - 127.0.0.1
mail - A - [server ip]
pop - A - [server ip]
www - A - [server ip]
AA. - NS - nameserver.
mail - MX - 10
AA. - TXT - "v=spf1 a mx ip4:[server ip] ?all"
Nowhere in the table is any reference to BB... Is that correct? I am no DNS expert.
Should I be more patient with the DNS change? Or is it something wrong in the settings?
Thanks so very much!
