DNS generally not resolving after switch

Okay, A little run down of my situation:

Started with cPanel. DNS worked properly, setup / registered NS's through namecheap etc. Worked great. Due to situations with clients, I was forced to switch to debian and decided to use DA.. I've had DA on almost all of my servers before this one and loved it, worked great.

First issue (not related)
-> Adding ips through the DA panel was not adding it to the interface. Fixed, etc.

Now here is my issue. I setup the NS on the same ips (exactly) as the ones registered with namecheap. It's been about 8 hours and they still are not resolving.

Now I know "it takes up to 24 hours to resolve", but lets be honest; how often does it seriously take that long. Plus the ips were already pointed days ago and worked.

Are there any known bugs? Something i may have done wrong, or may want to check? I checked the ip files in /usr/local/directadmin/data/admin/ips/ and the 2 ip files Are properly setup with ns=

Please help! lol

Please, check whether you have named up and running. Try to check resolving locally by pinging the from command line. There are a few probems with DNS on directadmin

Okay, I tried to start named up and it said it failed. What steps are to be taken to fix?

theres no logs in /var/log/messages that indicate that named.conf isn't correct. in fact, there aren't any logs at all lol

Try starting it by hand from the shell to see if you get any errors.

If you don't see any errors then try to start the daemon itself from the command line.

I don't have enough experience with debian to be more specific; perhaps someone else does and will respond.

jxx1229, your link has nothing to do with the issues in this thread, and is certainly not a bug report. It's simply an explanation of the fact that DirectAdmin doesn't automatically allow all users to have a secure shell login by default. it's not a bug; it's certainly an important security feature.
