I have a DA server acting as ns1 & ns2 which obviously if the server goes down so does all associated nameservers. Rather than getting another server/da license just to host DNS is there any DNS providers that work with DA's multiserver feature? or if I got another server is there a script I can use to transfer zone files etc?

Would it be enough to had the main DA server also acting as ns1 and a separate ns2 or would I just be better off running ns1 & ns2 on separate servers?

I've seen the dnscluster.co.uk service which looks good but seems expensive considering what I could get a VPS for.

DirectSlave is definitely the easiest way. My understanding is it doesn't protect against accidental duplicate DNS entries so if you've got multiple masters feeding to one slave you need to be careful when you move sites between servers. I'm presuming the cautions you can find on these forums in various Multi-User Option posts will help you figure out how to avoid these problems.

We use our own version of the Master2Slave DNS Replicator I had written, but I no longer support it for anyone else. Our system uses many multiple Hidden Masters (lots of DirectAdmin servers) and several slave nameservers which are advertised to the public to resolve domains we host.

Works for us.

Thank you i'll get a vps and give DirectSlave a go. So if I have the Da server with it's main ip then with another ip create NS1 on the same server? where would NS2 details go?
