Under admin settings is it necessary to establish an A or CNAME record for "servername".domain.com? Or do I just enter any server name I want in server settings?

Thank you

It should be whatever you named your server. It's a good idea to add an A record in dns for it. If you don't want to at least add a record in /etc/hosts for your server name.

It should, It'll make your default DNS on server.

Thanks, I did setup an A record and am hopeful that once the registrar change propagates through the system all will work well.

Many of us also set the rDNS for our main IP# to match the servername. While not having them match shouldn't affect email delivery, some larger email providers use the match as a test for spam scoring.
