dns slave service?

Is anyone using any kind of dns service as their secondary name server? If so, do you have a script that you could share? I typically just host primary and secondary on the same server (if the server is down, working dns is not going to help much) but one client has some visitors using a podunk isp that has problems connecting to the server for dns lookups.

I've tried a couple cheap vps services and using master2slave but you really get what you pay for with these things. One provider went out of business, one had their storage subsystem hacked and wiped, and the current has issues with requiring me to reinstall from scratch every couple weeks.
