I had acquired a direct admin code 500 license for one of my clients here a few months ago .I had to change the ip on it . I was attended to by Mark through email .
He suggests that Joe's data center owns my license in question(wtf!) .
He wants me to give him my client.directadmin.com account password to prove my authenticity .

Now I wish to take an opinion of all if it's ok to give him my account password since he can't seem to determine which account is allotted which license and also which email that account is associated with(I was writing to him from the very same email address as that of my client account here) .

I'm not intending to make this a rant , only as a consultation if this is safe .Please let me know .

Best Regards,
Aloy

If the datacenter owns your license then you dont have to give them access to anything. They just need to create the license for you and give you the client id and the license id so you can setup directadmin.

If you're asking it's safe to give DirectAdmin your login information to your account at DirectAdmin, yes it's safe. They can make any changes to your license through their administration account anyway. They only want your password so they can verify you have access to the account.

Did you buy the DirectAdmin license directly from DirectAdmin? If so, it should be your license. If you bought it from Joe's Datacenter, then they own the licenses and changes need to be made through contact with them.

I don't believe DirectAdmin is asking you for the password to log into your server; if that's what you mean, then I believe you're mistaken.

I had purchased my license here directly .
And that vps was for a different data center which was all the more fueling my doubt since Joe's data center was absolutely nowhere in picture .

@Jeff , what struck me was how Direct Admin would mistake my license for that of Joe's since they do have license authentication methods me their own and as me my belief their system should be tightly integrated to the billing system as well, also why that my email was not checked against my account when being replied to for authentication purposes(I was writing through my personal email for this very reason , as also stated above).

Nevertheless , I believe I have my answer . I'll get back to Mark now .
Thanks both of you for sparing time to help me out .
Have a good day.

Aloy

If your datacenter already has a license locked as their internal network you wont be able to register that for your license. I had that problem with my datacenter and I just asked them and they gave me a free license. Now I have my other license I can do with whatever I want.
