Does the guide imply a nameserver has to be of a domain you have on the server?

This is new to me. You think it'll work? The only way I got the step 2 of the above guide to work, was to add a domain at user level. I can only imagine that when adding a domain at user level it's supposed to be a real domain and not one you're not going to use, like in my previous experiences with other hostings where it didn't matter what domain I set up as a nameserver.

My questions are, using the domain I'm using for a website, using it also as a nameserver, does that work fine? And, over at my registrar, what nameservers do I direct my domain towards, to the ones I've created in directadmin or to no nameservers at all and just the IP?
