Trying an experiment, and it's not going so well. I need some input from the mail-pro's around here.

I setup MailScanner/ClamAV on a fresh RH9 server. I want to use this server _strictly_ for mail. On my existing domain, I changed the mail. IP to the new server. Now it's going nowhere.

I can't find it in either servers logs, sending mail to the account just vanishes.

After installing Mailscanner/ClamAV, I can't get to /squirrelmail on the server either - but thats another issue I think. In fact, popping off the new server is VERY slow (is this due to MS and ClamAV?)

The Master server is seti[ as:

ftp A 63.247.79.x
mail A 198.87.87.x
myhostpc.com. A 63.247.79.x
www A 63.247.79.x
www.faq A 63.247.79.x
myhostpc.com. NS ns3a.hostpc.com.
myhostpc.com. NS ns3b.hostpc.com.

All web traffic, etc should be going off the 63.x server, mail should go to the 198 server.

On the new dedicated mail server, I've got JUST the mail records setup in DNS:

mail A 198.87.87.20
mail MX 10

Does it need to have a full lineup of DNS on the new server?

Any input/feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks

Joe

Hey,

This is a bit confusing...

On the new dedicated mail server, I've got JUST the mail records setup in DNS:

mail A 198.87.87.20
mail MX 10

Does it need to have a full lineup of DNS on the new server?

On the mail server, I'd simply point it (resolv.conf) to other name servers instead of having it run DNS itself...

That would at least be a start to eliminating problems...

If you look at dnsreport.com, it doesn't show an MX record for myhostpc.com. Just having the "mail.myhostpc.com" isn't enough.
