Hello all,
I'm new to DA, just got it setup today and am in the middle of configuring the admin setting.

my question is in two parts:

1. i don't want to host DNS for any domains on my server? I understand that DA needs some internal DNS to know that its hosting a site and that is fine

2. in the admin area under "Extra Features / Administrator Settings" there are two name server fields ie. "NS1.server-domain.com, NS2.server-domain.com". the domain name for the server is also not hosted on this box. how should i fill in these fields??

thank you in advance

Fill them in anyway you want. The info is not going to be used if you are not hosting the DNS. But make sure your go through and uncheck the box for "Use this server to handle my emails." for all the domains.

Why, Floyd, should the poster uncheck the box to not have DirectAdmin handle his email? He didn't say anywhere is his post that he was hosting email elsewhere.

lmao, if you're hosting email for your clients do NOT uncheck the box.

Also, make sure your local nameserver isn't being used for resolution for your server (check the contents of your /etc/resolv.conf file). If it is, then the information in your local configuration must match the real DNS for each domain hosted on your server, or better yet, get your resolving DNS for your server from somewhere else, preferably your upstream.

Jeff
