Dear List

This is my some doubts regarding SpamAssassin in DirectAdmin. According to an official documentation of SA,it says that the Spamassassin wont honour the settings in /home/user/.spamassassin/user_prefs untill we add allow_user_rules option in the /etc/mail/spamassassin/local.cf if we are using spamd. Can anybody clarify the following doubts regarding the above said statment ?

1.Does DirectAdmin uses spamd ?
2.Why Directadmin is not using /etc/mail/spamassassin/local.cf ?
3. And finally I would like to add some more custom rules for Spamassassin to prevent Spam. Where should I add this file ?

1) Yes
2) It does. This is the file you may need to edit to include allow_user_rules possibly.
3) Either add your custom rules to /etc/mail/spamassassin/local.cf or any other .cf file in this folder.

If you are a spamassassin beginner (which I assume you are) then you may want to do this on a non mission crtical box, or post your new rules here (or on the spamassassin mailing list/forum) so someone can check that they do what you want!

Thanks

Dear Oliver
Thanks a lot. I am not a newbie in Spamassassin. But a new user with SA+DA.
I didnt get time to read whole about DA configuration. In my previous experiences local.cf was the critical file,I know. But here people leave the local.cf,instead of this they are using only /home/user/.spamassassin/user_prefs

Thanks a lot for the updates
