Dovecot error (message repeated 12 times: [ imap-login: Fatal: Dovecot version mismatch: Master is v2.3.21.1, imap-login is v2.4.1-4)

Hello,

Today we received the following error and dovecot is not working:

message repeated 12 times: [ imap-login: Fatal: Dovecot version mismatch: Master is v2.3.21.1, imap-login is v2.4.1-4 (if you don't care, set version_ignore=yes)]

Now dovecot is not working and we couldn't find any solution.

Any idae?

I’d suggest making sure no rpm/deb of dovecot is installed on the system. If it is not - try reinstalling dovecot.

I don't know why but reinstalling dovecot is not working.

Then I set dovecot version from 2.4 to 2.3.21.1 from custombuild and rebuild it. Now it works. I think the error is because of the new dovecot version but why it is installed if it is not compatible.
