I have been hearing from potential customers and existing clients that I do not respond to their e-mails. Problem is, I'm not getting them! They send me mail, they immediatley get my auto-responder which tells them their email has been received and I will contact them soon (adding insult to injury) but I do not get the original email!!!

I have even tried to email myself from alternate accounts and the same exact thing happens! I get the auto-responder within seconds but the mail I sent never shows up on my squirrel mail on-line access! HELP!!!!!

John,

An autoresponder is not supposed to send you the email. It's supposed to just reply, and throw the email away. That's what autoresponders do. Always have, since the earliest days of the Internet.

Really.

If you want an autoresponder to forward the email on to you, as well as respond to the sender, set this up:

If you want the autoresponder to work the way it's supposed to, but also forward the email to a specific address for a response...

1) Create an autoresponder at a new address; for example [email protected]. Be sure to create the auto-response.

2) Create a mailbox you'll check for email, for example, [email protected].

3) Create a forward for the address you want your customers to write to, for example:

[email protected] -> [email protected],[email protected]

Then mail sent to [email protected] will get the auto response plus the email will automatically go to the [email protected] mailbox, where you can pick it up.

Hey,

Wouldn't a Vacation message be better suited for what you want to do?

Set it up to expire 10 years down the road...

It's simple to set up and should do what you want.
