Email Account Creation

I just created an email account in User level (main domain of my server)
but it doesn't seem to work.

I checked the logs and whenever this user is trying to login i am getting this :

Mar 1 18:32:39 www PAM_pwdb[2242]: check pass; user unknown

Is the user logging in as:

Username: user
Password: password

or as:

Username: [email protected]
Password: password

???

The former is incorrect.

The latter is correct.
