Hi guys,
I was monitoring exim's log and found out that there are quite a number of emails rejected because of the recipient's addresss prepended by '3D' character.
Here is the log example :
2004-12-23 09:58:56 H=(broadbandcms.com) [219.95.254.55] F=<[email protected]> rejected RCPT <3d[email protected]>
The correct email is [email protected], any idea? Thanks.

More example...
2004-12-23 09:38:18 H=(travelsight.com.my) [218.111.39.123] F=<[email protected]> rejected RCPT <[email protected]>

2004-12-23 09:38:52 H=(travelsight.com.my) [218.111.39.123] F=<[email protected]> rejected RCPT <[email protected]

2004-12-23 09:40:10 H=(127.0.0.1) [219.95.250.232] F=<[email protected]> rejected RCPT [email protected]

2004-12-23 09:42:51 H=(ywlmcfpt.my) [218.111.162.87] F=<[email protected]> rejected RCPT <[email protected]>

2004-12-23 10:01:18 H=(127.0.0.1) [219.95.250.232] F=<[email protected]> rejected RCPT [email protected]

Bunch of them, isn't it a serious problem?

I've always thought it was an issue with Exim and SpamAssassin myself as I see it a lot with caught messages.

"3D" is an equals sign.

There's no good reason for an equals sign to be between the "<" and the email address.

If the emails are coming from legitimate senders, then they should be getting them back, since "reject" means the sending server is advised that your server won't accept the message as it sees a problem with it.
