If this is covered else where please let me know. I'm pretty new to imap and am trying to figure out how to get user email back where it belongs.

My server crashed and I lost the some of the users mail directories. Users are set to synchronize with server and store locally. Those users who's server email directories were missing got a status message "indexing messages". That was pretty much the end of they're email after that.

After running data recovery software on a users computer I was able to recover all the data stored in the /Library/Mail. The question is how do I re-integrate the user mail data and make the MUA and server happy?

Are you running DirectAdmin and Dovecot? If you are, then I've found that if you delete all the files beginning with Dovecot or dovecot in the user's imap directory path for the email, then depending on your imap settings imap should synchronize your mail store. However I take no responsibility for the possibility you'll lose email.

If you're not running DirectAdmin, then you're probably in the wrong place. If you're not running Dovecot, then I don't have any idea.
