I have 2 DirectAdmin servers...

On the first, I want to run client web sites.

On the second, I want to run the client email.

I dont mind having to manually create their email addresses.

How would I set this up so their hosting is on the first server and email on the second?

Any help would be awesome!

Thanks in advance.

DA is not designed to do this across two servers.

Start by setting up two servers with DA.

One of them should have a special skin allowing just webhosting, the other a special skin allowing just email. (One of those skins should allow the user to do whatever else you want him/her to be able to do.)

Make sure you get a copy of the setup email for each user so you know when an account is set up.

You'll have to manually set up the email on the email sever and either manually or through a post-site-creation script change DNS A and MX records and uncheck the checkbox for running email on the same server.

Jeff...

We got it mostly working... change adjusted all DNS records and such... only problem that came up in DNSReport is the mail server wasnt responding? We didn't uncheck the box regarding mail on the same server... do you think this could be the reason? Also, where is this box located?

Thanks Jeff! You're a big help to us, especially since we're sick of CPanel and feel DA is a much better solution (at least from our testing so far)

You'll have to carefully read the DNS Report to figure out which server isn't responding; unless you've got DA and DNS both set up exactly right DNS Report may be looking at the wrong server.

That checkbox is on the page called MX records at the user level, but it's only there if you've got DNS turned on for your resellers and their users.

It makes a change to a file, but I don't have time now to look up which one :( .
