Endless "exceeded broadband/suspended for bandwidth overusage" messages

Hello. Prior to my school's winter break last December, one of my class projects involved uploading a website made via Adobe Dreamweaver CS6 onto my DirectAdmin account for grading. Since my winter break began, I stopped uploading any files onto my DirectAdmin account. But somehow, I've began receiving several emails with the two following subject titles:

  • "New Message: User ??? has used up ???% of his/her bandwidth and 0.00% of his/her allocated disk space"
  • "New Message: User ??? has been suspended for bandwidth overusage"
This was my first time using DirectAdmin (never even heard of it until I did that particular class project), so I have no idea how I exceeded my broadband limit and why I've gotten what appears to be an endless bombardment of these automatically generated emails from DirectAdmin. I have since deleted that website's files from my account, but these emails continued flooding my school email account's inbox for four months now. I tried emailing DirectAdmin about this problem, but I never got a response from them. Why am I (a person who rarely used DirectAdmin) receiving all those 'exceeded broadband/suspended for broadband overusage" emails?

To look at the source from the e-mails you will have to check the mailheaders. In the mailheaders you can see the source server to see if it really is the server where your account is hosted.
If this is the case, you can login in your Directadmin account and look at the full usage statistics, you can read more about this stats at the following website:

Hello. I just logged into the DirectAdmin account I got from my school and checked my site statistics. I also viewed my domain name stats, but I received a "File does not exist" message. then again, I removed that class project's website files from DirectAdmin's last December. Here's a JPG of the site statistics:

Message Headers

Additionally, I've checked the mail headers for each type of those messages and found the following info:

===New Message: User ???? has used up 202% of his/her bandwidth and 0.00% of his/her allocated disk space===

Even more frustration

There's also some other thing involved with those "New Message: User ??? has been suspended for bandwidth overusage" messages I've been receiving. They include some link that takes you to a DirectAdmin log in screen. I logged in and was then taken to another screen that states "Cannot execute your request." Additionally, "You don't have permission to view that ticket" above below the word "Details." here's an example of what that initial link looks like:

has arrived for you to view.
Follow this link to view it:

https://????.aisites.com:2222/CMD_TICKET?action=view&number=000002207&type=ticket

I'm really aggravated by all the constant "exceeded bandwidth" and "suspended for overusage" emails, not being able to view tickets relating to those issues, and not knowing EXACTLY what caused my apparent 'bandwidth overusage.' I only used DirectAdmin for one class project and if I'd knew these problems would occur just for that, then I would have never used DirectAdmin in the first place.

The bottom line is that only the server administrator can tell you if you've overlooked something or if the server is having a problem. We can't, because we can't log in to your server as an administrator.

Ask your server administrator.

Jeff

Hello and thanks for the advice. I'll definitely contact a server administrator as soon as possible.
