Hi there, hope I don't sound too n00bish and that someone can offer me assistance.

I'm the owner of a blog which recently kinda grew too big for it's own shoes, which has forced us to leave our shared hosting package and move to a VPS. Now, I'm pretty proficient in things like phpmyadmin, moving database dumps, ftp programs and the like, but having your own vps proves to be pretty daunting so far.

I've managed to move my entire site (which basically is a wordpress installation) to the vps and I'm now trying to install it. When I surf towards the install.php, I'm getting the following message however:

Error: PHP is not running

WordPress requires that your web server is running PHP. Your server does not have PHP installed, or PHP is turned off.

You can see the entire file over here:
http://31.3.99.21:2222/CMD_FILE_MANAGER/domains/blogginbeauties.nl/public_html/wp-admin/install.php

Now, I've been browsing around in DirectAdmin, and did find the following at admin level / system information:

Php 5.2.17 Installed

So I know php HAS indeed been installed. I am wondering what to do now? Help?

Since every VPS provider can use their own defaults when they install DirectAdmin, you'd be better served by asking the company from whom you bought your VPS.

Note that a VPS runs as does any server, and definitely requires the same level of administration competence and knowledge; it's a far cry from a shared webhosting account.

Perhaps you've be better served by a dedicated hosting package or a vps hosting package as offerred by many hosting companies; that way you pay a bit more but you get the benefit of both worlds.

Well, that really helped ... :(

The company was not available as this happened during the weekend, which is why I tried my luck here. By the time a moderator finally came around to approve my post however, I'd already solved the problem.

I was trying to view the file directly from the filemanager by clicking on it, which was the wrong approach. Had I just surfed to it via my ip address I would have found it working.
