I update my machine and noticed i didn't get any mails. Seems like exim disappeared. This was after switching to dovecot (but not directly, i received new mails for some time) and installing new imap for php.

What i have done now is 'updated' exim with @how@'s update all script.
Now it says exim is running. But it isnt installed as a service yet. How do i do that?

And i'm still not receiving mails.. How can i fix and test this ?

Having exim start automatically is OS distribution dependent. What OS distribution do you use?

The easiest way to make sure you're using a version of exim.conf specific to Dovecot is probably to download the beta from here:

http://www.nobaloney.net/downloads/spamblocker/DirectAdminSpamBlocker3/

Because it's probably the only place where a Dovecot specific exim.conf file (needing no changes) directly compatible with DA can be found.

Be sure to follow all the prerequisites for the install, and use the right version, depending on whether or not you've got ClamAV install.

Among other things you'll need the newest exim.pl, downloadable from the same place, and you'll need to create a new file at /etc/virtual/skip_av domains (see the ReadMe at the above site for specific instructions as to ownership and rights). And if you're using either the SpamBlocker or virus blocking facility you'll need to edit the exim.conf file to change http://www.example.com/ with a link to your own page.
