I'm looking for a way to do sub-addressing using exim.

I already found that i have to add local_part_suffice = +* and local_part_suffix_optional to my virtual_alias_nostart, virtual_user, virtual_alias.

But then i get bounces, saying it can't deliver my mail, if i then look into the mailbox the file does exist.

I attached my exim config to the thread.

Hello,

But "sub" addressing, if you mean you want a subdomain to accept email, then just create the subdomain as a full domain, eg:
User Level -> Domain Setup -> Add Domain:
domain = sub.domain.com

this will give you full email abilities on a subdomain.

You better ask on the exim-users mailing list.

I found a thread on doing this on cPanel, here (latenightpc.com). It shouldn't be much different to do it on DirectAdmin. I'm the author of the DirectAdmin exim.conf file, and I'm available for customization as a commercial service. If interested feel free to email me (private messages take much longer for me to respond).

That's looking interesting

What is Plus Addressing?

Plus Addressing is a feature that allows you to automatically filter your incoming email without creating content filtering rules first.

To better understand how this works, please consider the following scenario.

Let's say your email address is [email protected] and you want to sign up for a newsletter called ACME News. You want that newsletter to go to a folder in your webmail called "ACME". With plus addressing emabled, all you have to do is sign up for the newsletter with the email address: [email protected].

When the newsletter gets delivered to your email, it will automatically be placed in an ACME folder, which will be created automatically if it does not already exist. No additional steps are required. The whole process is automatic once you enabled the feature.

If you include the "/" characer in your plus address, you can automatically create sub-folders.

your+Newsletter/[email protected] will create a folder called Newsletter and then create an ACME folder under it. Newsletters sent to this plus address will bedropped into this ACME folder.

Now, I wonder, would it be interesting for Directadmin community or not?

Would be interesting and ofc a nice feature, but i suppose not mandatory neither urgent to implement.

I think that none of my customer ever know about this possibility :)
