I'm having some difficulty at the moment. I'm asked to have a look at a system that has been restored wrongly and there is too many accounts to do restore again without taking serious time. And it's likely not going to fix the situation as quite a bit of time has passed since the original restore.
So what is the issue ?
The directadmin migration was done by people not familiar with the software. So they copied the software and made selective restores - forgetting that OLD Ip addresses were still on the directadmin config files.
I changed the config files by doing a replace of anything that had the IP address of the OLD server to the new one. May other issues were solved quite easily.
Previously it looks like ftp was using :
/etc/proftpd.passwd
However, after my alteration, some of the domains have started to use the file :
/usr/local/directadmin/data/users/admin/ftp.passwd
Now - my question is what should I do to make sure accounts under admin - are assigned the proper passwd files.
Is there a mass reset system that would simply fix this without too much work for my brain --- ie: take the info from the new passwd and add it into old one OR vide versa.
Any thoughts about what should be done - OR - how to approach it would be helpful.
