Hello,

I'd like to ask you to add a custom directory in users backups (Admin Level/Reseller Level).

If we use some extra features, that expands traditional set of services, it's hard to save its states and settings, and more harder to backup them and to restore.

Storing them in home directory of a user is not always safe, because it can be changed by an user (chattr does not always help).

Thus we save custom configs and settings in /usr/local/directadmin/data/users/<username>/custom/. But this directory is never backuped, and will never be restored from a backup.

So, will you please, add custom directory into a list of files and directories for backuping (both Admin Level and Reseller Level)?

Regards,
Alex.

I believe the feature you are looking for can be found in the 'System Backup' link, under the 'Admin Tools' section, when you are logged-in to DirectAdmin on an Admin level.

From there, you can add custom directories and files that need to be backed-up by a seperate cron-job.

@czotos,

With your suggestion, when I restore account on another server, I need manually find that user's custom settings and manually put them in proper directory.

That's not exactly what I asked for. That's important to have ability backup all extra settings for user account with his account. In one tar file.

OK, with this feature (user_backup_compress_pre.sh, run just before backup tar.gz compression), it seems we can do that partly: we can put our custom directories into the backup. But is there a way to restore them automatically?
