If one is about to go and delete a user or a reseller or something, the system should probably perform a sanity check to make sure the user doesn't have any domains (or other important data) attached to them anymore, and if so it should throw an error saying that the following users/domains/whatever are still attached to the account you are about to delete and of course an "are you sure?" I think that it's also important for this feature to show all of what is attached to the user so the one who is deleting the account can see everything that is attached at one quick glance instead of having to go digging through the users screen to find domains, etc.

I deleted a user today not realizing that the user had a bunch of domains still attached. Now those domains are gone and there are some very PO'd customers :(

I dont get what this is asking :/

Attached what does that mean?

@scsi,

The original poster is suggesting that a reseller not be allowed to delete a user until the user has no services running, similarly to the way linux/BSD users cannot delete a directory by normal means if it still has files in it.

@jlixfeld:

Generally a reseller deletes a user either when the reseller and the user no longer have a business relationship.

I'm going to presume that you had one username hosting domains for multiple customers. While I'm not going to question that, even though DirectAdmin can create as many users as you want, but I can't help but wonder why you didn't have backups.

So you dont want to delete a reseller that has users? Why not they are not your users they are the resellers users. Its not your problem if the users sites are no longer working. They should of choosen a more reputable reseller then ... maybe one that actually pays for their services.

Hello,

Regarding the "Are You Sure?" feature, DA already does bring you to a completely new confirmation page that says "Please Confirm your request". Let me know if you're talking about something else.

As for "important data".. DA isn't smart enough to know what "important" data is. If a Reseller had to first delete the data before deleting a User, we would likely get a few complaints about bogging down the workflow.

However, would more information on the confirmation page suffice?

For example, right now it has the username and a checkbox, then you click "Delete". Would having the username, all of his domains and the checkbox be adequate? Only a human can know want "important" is, so all DA could really do is try and show you what's current there to let you decide.
