Feature request: Send "failure notice" when emailing to a suspended mail account

I mostly suspend mail accounts when a collaborator no longer works with us. I may want to keep their mailbox as a "read-only" thing, just in case we may need business information contained in it. But I only found out a few days ago that people could still email to that address and not even get a "failure notice" back! You understand of course that in this scenario, this is unexpected, and a "failure notice" would have made sense.

Perhaps the notice should be a "temporary error" rather than a "permanent error", perhaps that could be a compromise with the philosophy of this feature? In any case, I truly believe the sender should be made aware that their email is not being read (for at least a while).
