my secret for succecful installations is:

yum -y install compa* gcc* glibc* e2*

this solved most of my DA installation problems.

Here are some answers to the questions you've raised:

1) DirectAdmin doesn't officially support FC5. You can search these forums to see if anyone has been successful with an FC5 install.

2) Whether or not you can install FC4 over FC5 is a question for a Fedora forum or mailing list.

3) DirectAdmin only supports a 64-bit install on RHEL/CentOS 4.x. It requires that you've specified that 64-bit OS when you order DA.

My suggestion would be that to be safe you should do a new install of FC4 unless you find instructions here on these forums for installing DA on FC5.

And if you want to use a 64-bit OS you do a new install of either Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.x, or CentOS 4.x.

3) The first thing the DA installer does is check to see if a DA install has been started on the server previously. If it has, you'll get that ten-second warning, as a new install will completely wipe out the first install, including everything set up on it.
