Hi,

I contacted our VPS provider regarding FFMPEG. On our old provider we choose to use Direct Admin as we felt it was nice and simple, but powerful enough to do everything the people on our vps required. Only about 6 people, not commercial.

However we now have a requirement for FFMPEG to be installed onto the VPS.

I asked our host to do this and this was the response I received:

FFMpeg requires PHP to be compiled as CGI (PHPsuexec) that is only officially supported by cPanel. So in order to install FFMpeg modules we have to resetup your VPS with cPanel.

Can anybody here confirm this ? As we would like to continue to use Direct Admin however are in need of FFMPEG for a project.

And if it is possible to have FFMPEG run with DA, is there any further information to achieve this ?

Regards,

Joel

I've had no luck getting it to work on my main servers. Though I didn't spend much time on it.

Woohoo you gotta love resurrecting old threads! (or not :D)

Too bad it doesnt work for freebsd :(

ffmpeg is located in the multimedia section of the ports collection, have you tried installing it this way?

If it is ffmpeg-php you want (a different package) your better installing it manually as a php extension.
