I know this is not really directadmin but..

I have a older DL360 dual P3 1.4 with 2g of ram and RAID.

What would be better for a web hosting box.

2x18 mirror, and 4x36 RAID 5
or
6x36 RAID 5 with a spare
or
???

I will be using CentOS, currently I have 4.2 any pros or cons with 4.3 while I doing it?

I will use the partition info listed in the FAQ.

Anything else I would be needing?

Thanks for your comments

I'd go with the first because you can't easily get grub to work with a failed drive with RAID5.

CentOS 4.2 will automatically update to 4.3 when you run yum update.

Caution: do not run yum update after a DA install without searching these forums for the excludes first.

haha I just did it 6x36 raid 5, are you staying there are trouble with it booting?

I did remove a drive to test fail over but I don't think I rebooted I just made sure I could access it.. I guess I could try to reboot with a drive out.

GRUB and LILO work with individual drives, not with RAID arrays. So if you're going to use RAID 5 (for example) you should have a small ext3 /boot partition.
