If you have a question in Dutch about DirectAdmin, then visit www.daforum.nl. This is a new (non-official) support forum for DirectAdmin.

Although 87% of the Dutchmen understands English and can express themselves in it, it is always easier to express yourself in your native language.

Mmm I Dutch but I have been helped here for all my questions. It's great to have a Dutch board to talk with other people with the same langauge. But I think that I will stay on DirectAdmin.com And for other questions that I cant express in Englisch I use www.daforum.nl

Hi,

I don't dissagree that it might be good for the Dutch people who cannot speak / or write English but as for me, there is only 1 official support forum for DirectAdmin. I'm more concernd with the quality of answers they will get on a forum not officially sanctioned by DirectAdmin.

Most people who know what DA is all about and how it works are on this board and will probably not read or answer questions in multiple forums (but that is just my opinion).

Most of problems and questions I've had for the past years required people like John, Mark (from DirectAdmin), Jeff (Nobaloney Internet Services), Rob (Matrixx Hosting) or John (jmstacey) to get the answers. To my knowledge none of them speak Dutch.

I have helped people in Dutch on the forum, in PM's, via e-mail and via Telephone and so have other Dutch speakers, RenDprogrammeur, functionictnl and rhoekman to name but a few.

These are just my thoughts and for no particular reason. I will however state that if people are not helped on the Dutch forum they should be referred to this forum so that DA Support can address the issue.

Speaking only for myself, even if I did speak Dutch I'd still want to support only one official forum where as many folk as possible would be helped by my reply.

I've thought several times about setting up our own forums, but I've decided against it because there already is a serviceable forum for me to use.

I understand the power of speaking and reading in one's native language, but inevitably the answers are where they are.

Jeff

If we cannot give an answer to one of the questions posed on the Dutch Forum, we will of course redirect them to this forum.

Also we will link to posts on this forum. And only give a short Dutch summary on www.daforum.nl.

We like to see it as an additional service to the Dutch DirectAdmin community.

For all those that can express themselves in English, this will probably stay the better forum.

Note that most questions on this forum are of a technical nature. These questions are posted often by hosters/ISPs themselves. I guess that most of the questions posed on daforum.nl will be by Resellers and Users, which often have less technical insides.

Yeah, if I were you I'd focuss on those levels, reseller & user, cause sysadmins will most likely come here as the quality of the answers and the specifics of DA will be much better if the forum is run by DA people themselves.

Reseller & users will most likely ask n00b questions, which is ofcourse no problem whatsoever ;)

Dutch or English ?
English or Dutch?

I don't really care, can write both at about the same speed...

However, the idea of limiting the possibilities to exchange experience with DA etc, causes me to believe sticking to the English forum is just 'better' in some way.

Same message, in Dutch :
Het probleem met een (enkel) Nederlands forum is dat mensen met ervaring die uit andere delen van de wereld komen niet meer in staat zijn te reageren.

Help, help, the Dutch are trying to take over the world...

There are a lot of Dutch people in the DA community (perhaps John does have an idea of how many exactly), however, this does not mean we should cut ourselfves off from the official forum. ;)

And dutch again:
In geval van een forum als wht.com en wht.nl is het wel goed gegaan, ik hoop ook natuurlijk voor je dat het zo ongeveer gaat lopen. Ook ik zal wel eens langs komen en het in de bookmarks zetten :).
