Does anybody know what this message means.

--------------------------------------------------------
Forbidden
You don't have permission to access / on this server.

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I ( and nobody else) can't visit my website.
I could need some help here.
TY

Wim

We actually had this with another customer earlier today. In our specific situation, the message we found in the logs were similar to:

Code:
Fri Aug 15 17:00:00 2008] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] (13)Permission denied: access to /test/bestand.txt failed because search permissions are missing on a component of the path

If you're receiving an error similar to that, try and chmod all your folders, starting from the public_html directory itself to 755. This solved the issue in our situation and it might be the same in yours.

If not, please see your error_logs and post them here. Of course, only the relative parts.

You will also get that if you do not have a default index page in the public_html directory.

Hi Floyd, ty for reacting. I looked in my filemanager but i could'nt find a public_html directory. I think there is something wrong then. Could it been that i erased it? How can i put it back? Could you telle me where i can find informetaion about installing or uploading websites to my account?
TY from a 56 year old computerbeginner from the netherlands.

Just login via ftp to this account and create folder public_http then upload you site in this folder.

That's "public_html". Making the other folder won't do much good. ;)

That's odd for the folder to not be there though. Do another check. Are you sure it's not there?
