I assume this can't really be done as there's no feature for it.

But, a customer asked if we could restore just one domain, however, we had to ask if they had changed any of their other domains within the last nn hours, luckily they said no so we continued.

So, is this single or multiple domain restore really a headache to implement? (From within the user restore feature I mean)

Also, just to add, should be nice to be able to select the DB name/DB user to restore, so, if you need to restore a single domain with his relevant DB you can do without much pain.

The only issue here is that this would require a pre-restore page, cause DA will need to unzip the backup and analyze them using dataskq, once done, notify the admin (reseller or user aswell) about a new ready to custom-restore a backup, so the user can go into a defined page and select what to restore.

Once restored, remove the unzipped data.

I suppose this would be the best way to do that.

Regards

I know this is old, but is this being thought out?

I ask as I have a client with 12 sites on one account............ and their web designer screwed something up.
However, I have since learnt that the designer screwed up before my system took the latest backup, so it would've been useless anyway.

How directadmin should know whether or not a site uses MySQL DB? Which exactly DB? I guess this is the most not trivial task to be solved. Files for a single site can be extracted without an issue.

Maybe backups need to be in 1 tar.gz file, which then contains individual archives of each site (eg. google.com.tar.gz, yahoo.tar.gz). Then, once extracting it to a tmp folder, DA lists all the files, which then we can select the required site to restore...

Yes, the databases can be a little problem as all sites can use just 1 database, but something could be done.... That said, databases can be in their own tar.gz file, as normally its the actual web files people screw up rather than anything else....

Even now you can use existing backup system and pack: emails, dbs, sites in separate archives. Admin level backups allows to choose what you want to backup.

On some server I use daily backups for only DBs to store 7 copies per week, and one copy of homedirs. So there is a variety of configurations.

And yes, to unpack/restore only a specified DB, files and directories only of a specified domain would be really great feature for Directadmin. I would like to have too.
