Free DA intranet testing

Hi,

Greetings from Barcelona (Spain) to all the people of forums...

In the last months we seek around for one affordable CP with regular upgrades, quick response on trouble, skinable... well, with all features any hoster appreciate.

Sure I make same web tour as many people here... We look at cpanel but security problems on last moths and price are problematic. Plesk have beautiful look but bad response time correcting bugs and the price is a barrier. At some time we play with the idea of take free panel like webmin or web/cp and customize them, but after very strong war with myself (fortunally) finally, practical mind beat tech heart.

We decide 'DirectAdmin' is the way. At this point the next step is test him, but after PM to support, there is no way of test the panel in one isolated intranet server w/o pay first.

Feature request

Option to test 'DirectAdmin' in one private LAN server (no internet conection), or
Like Plesk, limited version of CP for this purpouse, or
Refundable fee if no purchase, or
Discount the fee on order.

Maybe there is one answer to this request but we can't find them.

They can provide you with a 30-day trial, however your box has to run on a 'real' internet IP.

Yes, this is the problem. Apart from production boxes, we need to maintain ever one intranet install for test new adds, scripts and problems solver w/o danger any real customer.

We can use some routable IP but 30 days trial is not enough for us.

If this is the unique solution, maybe we need to think again about free CP + custom work.

We think every 'admin' here are very pleased if new scripts or add-ons can test off-line before in production box.

I have the same problem here...

Perhaps a limited version with only 1 user besides admin and 1 or 2 domains max is the best solution. So i mean something hard coded.

My company is currently working on a management solution for DA, but we can't test our scripts as all servers are in a intranet (10.0.0.) environment. We used some backups to sync the test servers with the real production servers but we still don't know if all is in sync. So we began working on another side of the project first for now...

Because it's important to me to be able to test my environment from my home office I purchase extra static IP#s from my DSL provider.

I'd be happy to consider setting up a DA system for you for a limited time period, for you to do your testing.

Thank you, but for now, this project is everything; but finished.
If you want more information about the project, when were at pre-alpha stage I'll send you an e-mail. Our roadmap states this to happen in about 1 and a half months.

Very pleased to read again, you are the guy who decided us to use DA, I read you first time in 'Cobalt' forums some years ago and many times we use the info you post. Great job.

Your offer welcomed but as I say before, the idea is testing in controlled environment (our office).

Can you be more verbose about this projects?

I think this is a much-needed feature, so long as John and Mark can implement it without risking people pirating DA.
