FTP error 550 (Lenny)

I've checked permission problems listed in other threads. The user has access and ownership of the folders. The user can login to shell with no access problems to create or delete files. Via FTP it is another story. 550 Access Denied for all create/delete actions.

This is a fresh install on Lenny. Can anyone help?

Edit - Everything works properly if I'm logged in to the FTP from the local machines. (ftp://localhost:21) It does not if I'm remote. (I can see the folders but cannot write/create/modify/delete)

You need to be quite a bit more specific.

First, let's start with Are you running DirectAdmin?

Are you the system administrator?

Are the accounts domain user FTP accounts or virtual FTP accounts?
