I am trying to set up my FTP through my control panel. I dont want it to be the default, so i chose to creat a new ftp with a username, password, etc and it is only ftp access. (not domain or user)

a couple of things:
1) I want to allow anonymus logon and uploading so that i can share my ftp info with others and transfer files. (ftp purpose, right??). I checked the site helper and i think it is an old version b/c it says there is an "Anonymous FTP settings" link in the main FTP menu. I can not find anything like this. im looking for guidance on how to change my anonymus setting.

2) when i logon via my MAC, i am able to get in, but then i can not see any of the folders that i can see on my PC in this new user acct (but not access to upload). If I use the default info for the domain, i am able to get to the public folder the long way and view the files....
HOWEVER, when i try to add files or download them from the folder, it says "ftp.domainname.com cannot be modified"
I know i can download fetch to use as a ftp client (it times out and fails), but i am trying to find the easiest way to direct others to this ftp without a ton of downloading of trial software for onetime use. I also need direction on how to change the settings so that i dont get the "cannot be modifed" message on my mac and the "make sure you have permission" message on my PC.

hopefully this is clear to someone

thanks
mike

If you can't set up anonymous FTP it's because your hosting company has restricted it. Contact them.
