A user has an accoutn on my forum but when he logs in he can't deleted anything as it says permission denied

I am on the latest vertion of direct admin and cent OS, someone please help me as soon as possible,

If you need any more info about it tell me what you need.

Log into DA as the user, go to the File Manager, go into public_html, now make note of the UID & GID columns. Do any say apache? If so, click on each checkboxes that has apache, scroll down to the bottom, click Reset Owner button. Then try again to delete via FTP.

Right well it has sam and root on many of the files and folders,

Sam is the correct one but load have ended up with root and there are the ones we can't get rid of, there were made with his previous host.

Did you/him untar the files to his directory manually via ssh? That is one way for the files to be owned by root.

Na it has been solver i deleted the file though the root ftp and re uploaded them by thier FTP user account.

It was root as i uploaded all thier files first and did it in a root ftp.

Just think its bad in the admin panel we can't change files from root to the user though the change back to user button.

But its solved now thanks.

You should not have a root ftp account.

Are you serious?

But you can, I explained how, unless it doesn't work for root owned files?

And how can you have a root FTP user? DA doesn't add one by default!

I dont know i have ended up with one. It might be the SSH account hat working as FTP? As filezilla has that option.

And no the root files dont have that option to work :(
