I'm pretty new about this stuff also....
just bought me my domain yesterday...

I got that same problem.
Any user i create gets "wrong password" when i try to login
with my ftpClient (FlashFxp)

when i try with the admin user, i can log on but after 20 seconds
i recieve the error message "No route to host"

site to new ??

do i have to config anything anywhere to make ftp work ?
and what is this proftpd.conf file u guys are talking about ?

As Jeff said:

Have you made any changes to your proftpd.conf file?

What OS distribution are you using?

Have you updated proftpd yourself or through an RPM or other distribution-specific method?

i did not made any changes to that file.
I even dont know where it would be.

i just had the info of my webhosting company with FTP login details and DA login details.

so i need to login on the ftp server through my FTP program
if i want to upload my site..

Grtz..

nope i did not....

i asumed this would have been a common problem.

But i feel u are urging me to contact my webhost for this ...
;) so i will

should i tell them to properly config that conf file ?

Calmly explain the issue to your provider. Explain to him exactly what you are doing, with usernames and passwords, ask them to help you (nicely) figure out where the issue is being caused.

They'll likely work with you if you're nice to them...
If necessary, they can come here for assistance and we'll be happy to help them troubleshoot - but chances are they already know where the issue is - or if it's a user error.

Good luck.

I've split the thread and moved the new section to User-Level Difficulties.

Because that's where it belongs :) .
