FUTURE REQUEST - Live chat + Script Installer

Hey,

I think that you should also add the choice to offer live chat in the direct admin panel so us as hosters can do it all in one place rather than all over the place.

I also think it would be good to add a script installer like: Fantastico De Luxe

With these you would becoming better in features than cPanel.

Auto-Installer? They are already many auto-installer compatible with DA... just choose one and buy it..

And i think more "gadgets" DA will have, more slow it will be... So i don't think we need a live chat included by defaut with DA... but if you really want it...you can write a new plug-in :P

I didn't know they had addons. where do you get them from?

Also live chat - I would if I could :P - and if I could I'd build my own web panel :P

Its probably a good idea to get the know the features that are there before making feature requests.
 
I was trying to say DA should have it all ready built in there are free versions so why not?! every one installs stuff and customers can get very lazy and hate installing and waste us the hosters time to install them for them.
 
Our clients don't waste my time. If they need something installed and don't know how to do it themselves, they hire us.

It takes only a few moments for you to install the free version of Softaculous.

There's a lot of maintenance in keeping Softaculous updated. Would you rather DirectAdmin staff work on their own version of something which already exists, or would you rather they work on control panel features that don't otherwise exist.

There are some bloated control panels out there that attempt to offer everything. DirectAdmin isn't one of them.

I know it doesn't take a lot of time but customers really do expect you to do everything for them and still would like quality and cheap prices.

I don't mind installing stuff for them but it's when they are asking for a new scripts every other day.

I just installed a clan website using nuked-klan.org and this is French and I had to code a few things to English for them - This took some time up but we do it for a better customer services.

Really this isn't our duty as we didn't make the script.

Do you charge your customers to install stuff?

I installed both of the links you sent me but I find that "Installatron" is a lot better as it is built into DA and was a lot easier to install rather than the other one :)

For me, and speaking about our shared hosting business, generally we don't install content for them. We do offer Installatron on some of our servers, and we can move clients to systems with Installatron if they need it. We have clients at different price points, and at the higher end we're more willing to do things for them, but even then, there's a limit.

I've always thought that both Installatron and Softaculous were plugins that integrated into DirectAdmin. I've not tested Softaculous (yet) so I don't know the differences.

Yes within reason, doing them over and then they wish to have another one installed and they just want new ones every day and I do not charge for script installs so I might start too :)

Do you think its worth to charge for them and how much?

Yeah softaculous doesn't integrate with it - would of been nice if it did, i know that it does with cPanel though.

I can't tell you how much to charge; I can only tell you we're not cheap and we tend to attract clients who understand our value.

It opens a new page up. I have removed it now though as I didn't like the fact it did that.

Ahh okay :) Well in the UK customers want every cheap and every work put into there sites free, some times this isn't a problem but when it's small things that they can do then I don't see why they do not learn, when owning a website you need to know how to install stuff and chmod it.

I am defo' gonna start to charge though as this could help people spend the money on a book to learn instead :)
 
I've been using Installatron for a few years now - it works flawlessly with DirectAdmin - it integrates within the Control Panel seamlessly.

We have a few resellers which love it - and complain when we setup new servers with DA if we forget to add a new license of Installatron ;)

We added a list of all the Installatron apps to our website - and have found that it's attracted a few more customers as a result. You can export the list from within the DA control panel !!!

$5 US per month is cheap for this - the work they've done is huge!

I've even written some Installatron installers for our own web software - and it works like a charm! (they've got an Installer API).
 
Ah sounds good :)

I like how it integrates too makes it look so much better.

And its fast too which i love and so do my customers, it helps too cause installing word press is a long and boring download and then you gotta install it and this script just makes life easier for our customers and us :)

Just I would add loads more programs on it and make the price a little higher if I was them :)
