get 403 forbidden error after uploading files through ftp to site

uploaded files succesfully through FTP , but get 403 forbidden error (You don't have permission to access / on this server.) when going to the site url.

Did you change permissions of anything? Do you still have an index.html, index.htm, or index.php file?

Exactly what do you expect to see? A directory listing? Or the output of a file? If the latter, of which file?

Check to make sure that the filename is in lowercase. If you capitalize any letters in the name of the index file, you'll get that error.
