Harddisk crashed, new install

Hi,

The harddisk of our main server crashed and we don't have any backups due to some local problems. We got the harddisk working as a second harddisk and are installing DirectAdmin on a new HDD at this moment.

My question is, can I (manually) restore the user accounts as they were, including e-mail messages, databases, user files and all that? And how to do such a thing? For example, how can I restore the MySQL database? And where are user e-mail messages stored?

We're working on a new way to perform backups, so these sort of things can never happen again.

Thank you for your time!

If you rebuilt with the same OS distribution then you should be able to copy over all the files and directory contents listed in the System Backup link, from the old drive to the new one, and everything should still work.

If you've got a new OS distribution in place then you'll have to look at each of those files/directories, to determine if any changes need to be made.

We've managed to fix it temporarily now, in a week we will be starting moving things back to the old server running the newest stable of Fedora Core. Thank you for your response :)
