I have a small situation, i run a small VPS server with DirectAdmin and Centos 5

i have a client who has a domain name, and they are in the process of changing the domain name .. is thier an easy way of transferring files ..

I have

ilrc (the old account, the one using ilrcsudbury.ca)

ilsm (the new account, the one using the new domain)

i need to move the files from ilrc user to the new account name of ilsm ; is this possible.

if this is the wrong forum, please forgive me ..

In order to change domain's name it's not necessary to create a new account.
If you want to transfer files between accounts use midnight commander (MC) in SSH (login as a superuser root).

While MidnightCommander for linux is a valuable tool for some, it's no replacement for good administration skills; for example to know what needs to be moved.

Rather than try to teach which files need to be moved, which directories need to be changed, etc., and perhaps forget something, I'd recommend using DirectAdmin's built-in function to change a user's domain name. It's available at the user level.

Or if you must move to a new user:

I'd recommend using reseller backup to backup the user, untar it, and make any required modifications, then tar it back up and restore it as the new user.

No, I don't remember spcifically which files/directories need renaming, if any, so please feel free to do the research yourself.

Jeff
