Hi all,

I have been installing Denyhosts yesterday and it seems to be working because I can not SSH to the server anymore. It must have blacklisted my own IP address.
I did look for information on the web on how to undo/recover this issue, but so far nothing found on this matter.

Does anyone know how to get to the root server otherwise?
Or do I need to get in contact with my hosting provider?

Hope someone can help me, i'm realy stuck here.:(

I did this once :) but I was not using Denyhost, but the setting in DirectAdmin.

You can try using a proxy program, I dont know if there are any free ones, but I use Secure-Tunnel.com.

My solution was to nano the blacklist file and delete my ip from there, I dont know if its the same way with Denyhost?

Thanks for your replies, I looked for both the proxy and the serial console option.

Have not find a free proxy program for this yet, but if someone knows one please let me know.

I believe removing via serial console must be done by my hosting provider, who dails into the modem right?

I have to get in contact with my hosting provider to ask their opinion as well.

First of all, happy 2008 to all!!!!

About editing deny.host in DA, I tried to get to the root, but even with the Admin I am not getting deeper to the root than the /home/ directory. Is there a way to get into the core root? If so can you please explain to me how to get there.

Thx.

mmm I get:

You cannot execute that command

Details

The request you've made cannot be executed because it does not exist in your authority level

------------

I am the main admin. :( now what I do?

You should log in as admin, the error message tells me you do not.

did i mention you need to log in as a admin?..

Once you cant login via ssh because of denyhosts and you cant reach the hosts.deny file in another way (like via DA) you are simply locked out.
(well.. there are some options to try but this is the DA forum)

Like I said, I am logging in as Admin, somehow I just don't have these rights.

Nevermind ill contact isp, thanks anyways.

If you are trying to login in as admin.. and it works.. but you dont get the proper rights i would suggest to contact DA support.

But then again.. if your isp can take care off it your fine

Problem solved, ISP deactivated DH.

My ISP gave me limited rights to get to the root in DA, thats why I was not able to change it via DA.

Thanks for your time. :)
