Help wanted with setting up nameservers

I am new at using directadmin and have to setup nameservers for a customer of mine but I am a bit confused. I have gone into the dns administration and setup the nameservers there for them but do I need to delete my nameservers from their dns settings?

Their zonefile should only include accurate NS server records so if you're no longer serving DNS for them, then you need to delete your NS records.

Note if you use your own nameserver(s) in your /etc/resolv.conf file, then you must either keep an accurate copy of their zone file in yours, or you must set up a forwarder in your DNS (beyond the scope of a how-to in this forum) to forward queries to their nameserver.

We do NOT recommend using your own nameservers in your resolv.conf file but a few admins still do it.
