Hi all, i've just aquired a new server with directadmin.
What i need to do is set up a domain where i can upload/ download files that can be 100meg, with a decently short download path, i.e.
mysite.com/dlds/filename.
I've spent hours messing around with the control panel and can do a few things but can't set this up.
Any help apreciated, i hope this is the correct place to post this thread !

Yes i have a commercial dedicated server. I've installed a linux server myself at home before now successfully, but can't seem to grasp the structure of the commercial server.
Thanks for replying,

Simply create a subdirectory at:
Code:
/home/users/USERNAME/domains/EXAMPLE.COM/dlds/filename
where the stuff in all caps above should be replaced by the correct username and domain name for your server.

Of course how you'll upload via http is up to you.

Thanks Jeff, i'll try that.
I've managed to upload ( via ftp ) and download from my site ( probably http as the file is under public http directory. It does seem a bit slow though at about 40kb. I'll try again, maybe it was internet traffic at the time.
What i have found with direct admin is there is no guide for beginners such as :
1. set up a reseller
2. set up a package
3. set up a user
etc etc
There are individual guides which are easy to follow, but not a list as above.
i've spent hours trying things to get what i want !
Hopefully i'm getting there,
Cheers,

I'm not sure what you mean; I find Site-Helper easy to use and follow; at the bottom you can find links to Site-Helper for Admins and Site-Helper for Resellers.

There are several third-party companies offering flash video tutorials as well; search the advertising forum here for more information.
