Afternoon all,

I've used DA for years and have at the moment 1 licence (personal plus) and I believe that covers me for dedicated server/vps. (have only used DA licences on VPS) I've just upgraded from a VPS setup to a dedicated server and VMWare ESXi so I can spin up as many VMs as I need. My question is about the licence I hold. Will I need to enquire about datacentre rates or will my licence be valid on more than 1 vm as technically it's on 1 server and bound to only 1 external IP. Will only use this licence at the mo for 1 vm but have plans to use more in future. Not keen on cPanel or Webmin.

Any info would be greatly appreciated cheers

Alan

Each server needs its own license, even if they are behind the same IP address. If you try to use the same license key on a newly deployed VM, you will notice the original (first) server will lose its licensing.

Our session-based licensing shows no bias to your server type (virtual or bare-metal) or how you configure your networking. It just comes down to the fact you have multiple servers competing for the same license key and our license system will only permit one session at a time.

Thank you for clearing this up for me. Moving forward, if I need more than 1 licence, ie a single one for each VM seperately, what's the best way to go cost wise?
