How can I add a default domain for my dedicated hosting account?

I am new here so, someone please illuminate me how can I add an
default domain for my dedicated hosting account?

DirectAdmin does not treat any domain as a default. Do you want to know how to add a domain? What screen do you see when you login?

Actually there is a default domain; it's the one entered when the account is created.

It can be changed in the Domain Administration area. How it's treated, and whether or not you can change it or add additional domains depends on your hosting provider.

I believe it still shows up in the control panel; please correct me if I'm wrong.

Because of the change you referenced I wrote what I did about how it's treated.
